(COOH)2.2H2O, a white, poisonous solid,
soluble in water, alcohol, and ether. Oxalic
acid is found in rhubarb, and its salts
(oxalates) occur in wood sorrel and other
plants. It is used in the leather and textile
industries, in dyeing and bleaching, ink
manufacture, metal polishes, and for removing
rust and ink stains.
